Engine and Performance – A Full 437 HP and 614 Nm

Under the hood of this Evo IX lies a meticulously modified engine delivering 437 HP and 614 Nm of torque. With the use of top-tier forged components like the Manley Billed 190100B racing crankshaft rated for up to 900 HP, Manley 14022-4 H-beam connecting rods, and Manley 606005CE-4 forged pistons, the engine is built to handle extreme loads, offering exceptional durability and performance.

Also included are Brian Crower Stage 2 camshafts, an enlarged throttle body from PTT Tech Support in Opole, and Deatschwerks 800cc fuel injectors to ensure the engine is properly fueled. A Mishimoto intercooler keeps temperatures optimal, while a metal blow-off valve from the EVO RS adds a distinct sound when releasing throttle pressure.

Precision Power Delivery

The impressive power from this engine is efficiently transferred to the wheels through a six-speed transmission, which has undergone a complete rebuild and is paired with a new AP Racing clutch. The Cusco rear limited-slip differential (LSD), locked at 5 kg, and the front Torsen LSD ensure excellent traction, whether on straightaways or in corners. The drivetrain pump has been relocated to the trunk, improving the car’s weight distribution.

Interesting Fact About the Evo Used in Tokyo Drift

One of the most distinctive elements of the Lancer Evolution IX in “Tokyo Drift” is its drivetrain modification. In its original version, the Lancer Evo IX was equipped with an advanced all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, making it one of the most effective rally cars on the market. However, in the film, to better suit the drifting style, the Lancer underwent a significant modification, converting its drivetrain to rear-wheel drive (RWD).

Suspension and Brakes – Mastering Control

The KW V3 coilover suspension with full height and damping adjustability ensures the Evo can carve through corners flawlessly, whether on the track or on public roads. Combined with Advan Racing TC-4 wheels and Toyo tires, the car maintains maximum grip. Braking power is provided by Wilwood brakes, with six-piston calipers upfront and four-piston calipers at the rear, ensuring reliable stopping performance. The hydraulic handbrake with a two-section pump makes this Evo ideal for drifting.

APR Body Kit – Wide and Aggressive Stance

One of the standout features of this Evo IX is the APR Widebody Kit, which not only significantly widens the body but also enhances the vehicle’s aerodynamics. With widened fenders, aggressive bumpers, and a splitter, the car exudes a track-ready, beastly appearance, while the wider tires provide improved grip and stability.

This Evo also boasts a muscular APR Performance carbon fiber hood, which reduces weight while adding a racing-inspired look. APR Formula GT3 mirrors further enhance the sporty aesthetic and reduce air resistance, while the APR Carbon GTC-300 wing made from carbon fiber provides excellent rear-end downforce, dramatically improving stability at high speeds.

Interior

The interior of this Evo is a perfect blend of sporty functionality and style. Recaro seats, newly upholstered in Alcantara, offer comfort and superior lateral support, while additional DEFI gauges monitor the car’s critical performance metrics. TAKATA four-point harnesses ensure the driver remains securely in place, even during the most intense maneuvers.

Conclusion

This Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX, signed by Sung Kang, is not only a powerful machine with 437 HP and 614 Nm of torque, but also a unique collector’s item. With the APR widebody kit, carbon fiber additions, and top-tier tuning, this Evo is a dream come true for fans of the Fast & Furious franchise and performance enthusiasts alike.
